Mission Statement:
Glam is a new original and exciting pop magazine that has been written to satisfy the needs of young women who enjoy listening to a blend of all music genres whether it is R&B, Indie Rock, Dance or mostly predominantly Pop music. The name is a reaction of all the genres colliding forming a blend of all taste of music, however as the magazine’s key theme is pop so it will feature a number of up and coming female artists or bands that the readers will aspire to be like. The magazine aims to bring ‘girl power’ back the music industry which was once dominated by male artists.
Over the Past ten years, a number of powerful, vibrant, professional, confident and talented females have emerged on the music scene and take the world by storm. These women appeal to my target market as the artists themselves are young, sexy and stylish.
The magazine will be distributed each month at the cost of £2.00. It can be purchased at large newsagents and supermarkets, but will also be available at larger fashion stores and music retailers. The readership will also have the option of subscribing to the magazine by post or via the magazine website, www.glammagazine.co.uk.
Glam is predominantly a music magazine and this will be a reflection of the articles involved and its content. There shall feature a number of interviews with the female artists, on everything from their own love of music, to the CD’s they purchase and even an insight into how they’ve become the performer they are today. While it is not a lifestyle magazine, the readers of Scene are incredibly interested in their own appearance and their love lives. They see the female artists as role models and icons of style, so along with a strong musical input the magazine will feature everything from hair and make-up tips, fashion advice and also gossip from the artists themselves. The readers will also want to be up to date on what’s new in the music scene so every issue will feature aspiring singers and bands that are causing a storm in the industry. As well as succeeding professionally these women are often trendsetters who inspire the fashion choices of females everywhere.
As a magazine, Glam will want to reward and treat its reader. Each issue will feature some sort of ‘freebie’, such as a free download on a new artist or even chances to win competitions. There may also be a chance to go a festival, the hottest gig or an amazing concert. The readers will also have unlimited access to the magazine’s website which will keep them up to date with all the gossip and music news on their favourite artists.
There will be a range of female artists in the magazine. We will not limit the content of genre as women in the music industry tend to be categorised more heavily than male artists. These females are strong feisty and inspiration to the readers, they have achieved chart-topping success along with being positive role models for young women.
In addition to fulfilling the needs of young women who share a love of all music genres and celebrating female artists within the music industry, the magazine will strive to encourage the reader to celebrate herself. At Glam we believe that all women are beautiful strong and confident and that their achievements should be highlighted and admired. It teachers young women to not give up on their own ambitions and that hopefully they will be inspired enough to recognise their own triumphs and strengths.
All women are individual and this is a statement that will be heavily featured throughout the publishing. It’s one of a kind like its cover models, and it will be the only magazine to feature a range of genres aimed for women. Readers will find it sleek, stylish and sassy while also remaining friendly and open. Female lovers of music will find it entertaining, interesting and inspirational. It will appeal to a young woman who just loves music, style and fashion.
